Cheaper electricity rates without switching plans

Reduce Your Rate is a program offered to customers enrolled in Bluebonnet plans or Bluebonnet Green plans, or customers subscribed to the BKV Energy Plus add-on. This program monitors changes to electricity prices on the wholesale market. If rates drop below what they were when you originally signed up for your plan, we give you the opportunity to cancel your current contract at no cost and sign a new contract at the lower rate.

The eligibility requirements for the Reduce Your Rate program are:

• Must be enrolled in a Bluebonnet or Bluebonnet Green plan, OR a Daisy, Verbena, or Lantana plan with the BKV Energy Plus monthly add-on
• You are eligible to receive Reduce Your Rate opportunities after the first three months of your contract are completed
• You must not have a past due balance on your account to be eligible for Reduce Your Rate

Our customer support team will reach out when the opportunity for a Reduce Your Rate contract upgrade arises. There’s no need to lift a finger, we’ll get in touch with you.

We run the numbers for Reduce Your Rate once per month. If the market has changed in such a way that by extending you a Reduce Your Rate offer we can both lower your rate and maintain positive revenue on your account, we will extend you a Reduce Your Rate offer.

In a perfect world where wholesale market electricity prices decline continuously, we could hypothetically offer you a lower price on a monthly basis. This is, however, incredibly unlikely because that’s unfortunately not how the wholesale electricity market works.

Wholesale electricity prices fluctuate due to a number of factors, including weather, natural gas prices, politics, and more. As such, we cannot guarantee how many Reduce Your Rate offers you will receive, if any. A realistic estimate may be 1-2 Reduce Your Rate offers every 12 months.
