Texans can get same-day electricity service by selecting a provider, submitting an application, and satisfying deposit requirements (if any). Providers will specify a cut-off each day when they will no longer accept same-day service applications, simply due to the nature of how long it takes to submit the transaction to ERCOT and your regional utility.
How long does it take for electricity to get turned on when you select same-day electricity service?
If you opt for same-day service, electricity providers will strive to get your power turned on as quickly as possible. Thanks to improvements in meter technology, this can usually happen within a few hours of your application. In some cases, it may take as long as 24 hours, although this would be rare. Be aware that same-day service is unlikely to be completed on weekends and holidays.
