BKV Energy and Deferit
BKV Energy is partnering with Deferit to enable BKV Energy customers to:
- Pay their $350 BKV Energy electricity deposit upfront
- Pay their existing BKV Energy bill upfront
Customers can schedule these installments across a further 2 weeks.
What is Deferit?
Deferit is a consumer bill budgeting company designed to help customers pay their bills in a convenient and flexible way.
Deferit offers customers the opportunity to pay off a bill, such as an electricity deposit, in 4 easy payments. Deferit pays the bill upfront on your behalf and the customer pays the bill back to Deferit over 3 bi-weekly installments (first installment paid upfront).
How does Deferit work?
Deferit does a soft credit pull on customers when signing up and in order to complete profile registration, a Social Security Number and in some cases, a valid ID will be required.
After completion, customers are provided with an account credit limit that can be used to pay any number of bills up to that balance.
Once the customer uploads their bill and pays the first installment, Deferit will pay BKV Energy the elected amount the same day (although the money will land the day after due to batch ACH payment).
Is there a cost?
The cost of the service is $14.99 per month and a $0.99 payment processing fee. There are no late fees or interest. Customers can cancel at any time.
Some customers might also need to pay a security deposit of $20 on the first bill they ever upload. This is refunded immediately as the final installment of the bill is paid.
Paying your deposit with Deferit
There may be up to a 60 minute delay between the deposit being paid by Deferit and the customer receiving onboarding communications by BKV Energy.
